Tune your settings

Model selection

• Local model size chooses which model is used for dictation.
• If a model is not downloaded, SpeakLane will prompt you to download it.

Behavior

• Auto-copy transcript copies the final text to the clipboard.
• Auto-insert transcript types the text into the focused app.
  • Requires Accessibility permission.

Transcript cleanup

• Clean up filler words removes common "um" and "uh" from final text.

Performance

• Use Metal (Apple Silicon) enables GPU acceleration on Apple Silicon.
• Threads controls CPU usage for transcription.

If you see empty results or failures, try disabling Metal.

History

• History folder lets you choose where transcripts are stored.
• Reveal history item on completion opens the new file in Finder.
• Keep last X recordings limits how many items are retained.
