5 Speaklane features you might not know about

Small features that can save time and make transcription smoother in daily work.

Speaklane is designed to stay out of the way, which means some of its best workflow details are easy to miss.

Here are five worth setting up once.

1. Start dictation from a hotkey

A global hotkey turns transcription into a reflex. Instead of opening a window, you can capture a thought while staying in the app where the note belongs.

2. Auto-copy finished transcripts

If your workflow moves between apps, auto-copy keeps the transcript ready for paste as soon as processing finishes.

3. Use history as a safety net

Every session can be saved to history. That makes it easier to recover a note if you copied something else or closed the wrong window.

4. Adjust the model for the moment

Fast drafts and careful transcripts do not always need the same settings. Use a lighter model when speed matters, and a stronger one when accuracy is worth the extra processing time.

5. Keep the menu bar close

The menu bar controls are intentionally simple: start, stop, settings, and history. When dictation is part of the workday, that small control surface matters.
